Georgia WAND (Women's Action for New Directions) invites you to a rare opportunity to see and hear Representative (D-CA9) Barbara Lee this Sunday, June 28.
Representative Lee, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and past Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus will be on hand to sign her book, Renegade for Peace & Justice: Congresswoman Barbara Lee Speaks for Me. Lee is notable as the only person in either chamber of Congress who voted against the authorization for the use of force following the attacks of September 11, 2001. She is a hero among progressives and has been a strong anti-war voice.

Dear friends,
We here at GfD love two things: building a progressive community and good food! So, we got to thinking, “How do we combine the two?” And the answer came to us: a progressive community cookbook!
In order to make it happen, we need your help. We need your favorite recipes. You know, the ones you’ve been making for years and years for the progressive potlucks and candidate tea parties and high-dollar donor dinner parties and get-out-the-vote barbeques. Make sure to include any stories that goes with the recipe (perhaps Great-Aunt Myrtle made the dish for the Governor in 1928?), or a suggestion for what kind of political event for which to make it (perfect for appetizers at a book signing?).
We’re really excited about this project, and can’t wait to share the final result. So get those recipes in!
If you'd like to help with our Progressive Community Cookbook (not the final title!) you can email catherine@georgiafordemocracy.org.
You can email your recipe, story, and suggestions to paula@georgiafordemocracy.org.
Keep an eye out for more emails about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
